Charismatic Leadership, Totalitarianism & WWII

What is the relationship between Fascism, Nazism, and Totalitarianism? What leaders are associated with each? Why do the leaders associated with these governments gain popularity during the Great Depression? How does the ideology help lead to WWII?

I think that the relationship between Fascism, Nazism, and Totalitarianism is that they are all connected like a community, they are related, and impacted by one other. For example, in our presentations I learned that Nazism is the adopted form of Fascism. Fascism is the separation or denial of equality to a population and they desire a classless society. Nazism is the importance or stronger emphasis of race. These two ideas formed the totalitarian government. The totalitarianism is the single party state that is free from discussions and has state control of businesses and etc. The totalitarian government received the idea of single party state from fascism and the government’s free from discussions from nazism. From this I can conclude that all these ideas or forms are related to each other. Stalin and Franklin D. Roosevelt is associated with totalitarianism. Mussolini is associated with fascism and Hitler is associated with nazism.

The leaders associated with these governments gain popularity during the Great Depression is because of the crisis during that time period. In class, we learned that these leaders may have the charisma that make people feel ensure, and that they will be fine. Charisma is someone that has a persuasive personality, that has power, somebody that inspires people, looks charming, and has originality that makes them memorable to its peoples. In Mussolini and Stalin’s case, they used propaganda and censorship to gain popularity. They control the mass media that can influence a community. For example, homage are paintings that show special honor or respect to leaders that is presented to the public. The homage is like a good commercial that makes Mussolini, Stalin, and other leaders look powerful, popular, and has charisma.

These ideologies help lead to World War 2 because the ideas help shape the leader’s vision on how the world should be. With the leaders ideas and power, they soon wanted to dominate the world. The leaders wanted to gain control, be more powerful and increase the resources for their own nation.

The relationship between Fascism, Nazism, and Totalitarianism is that all the leaders made sure that there importance is reconized. For example FDR supports Totalitarism. Totalitarism is a system in which the state has almost total control. FDR supported this group because he was determained to change the soviet union into a powerful industrial state. Benito on other hands supported facism. He supported this because his goal was to recreate the roman empire. Hitler was apart of Nazism. HE focused on strong emphasis on race, in terms of social and economic policies. All of these systems are alike because they all want to take control of something. They all use propaganda in a form .

The ideology help leads WWII cause having chrisma is part of it. BY having chrisma leader inspire there people to have someone to look up too. Someone that is confident, sets high expectations, and also memorable. The ideologies help shape the leaders perspective on how they wanna run things .

The relationship between fascism, Nazism and totalitarianism is that they are all connected to eachother. Fascism is racism which nazism is too. Also, fascism is seperation or denials of equality to specific segment of a population. Nazism is also an adopted form of fascism. Nazism is the stronger emphasis on race. Both nazism and fascism come together and form totalitarianism. Totalitarianism is a way for to make it harder for new leaders to emerge. Totalitarianism is a single party state. Totalitarianism equals nazism and fascism. Leaders associated with totalitarianism are FDR and Stalin. Leaders associated with nazism is Hitler. Also, leader associated with fascism is Mussolini.

The leaders associated with these governments gain popularity during the Great Depression because of the crisis people were going through. Due to the crisis of the Great Depression, great leaders are rising. Crisis is a window of oppurtunity. People are going through the Great Depression and the leaders act as if they are going to help the people. The leaders are persuDing the people into making the leader have the most power. The leader are full of chrisma. Chrisma is about being a convincing person, original, full of power and knowledge, and you must be memorable. If you have chrisma, you might also have many followers. Like Stalin, Mussolini and other leaders, they were all about homage. Homage makes the leaders look powerful and popular.

The ideology help lead to WW2 by leaders having different perspective of how the world should be. With different perspective, different agreements. Plus, there was different ideology and leader wanted the world to be only ruled by one of them. Leaders had there own ideas of dominating the world. There was so many different perspective of how the world would be so it lead to WW2.

The relationship between fascism, Nazism and totalitarianism is that they are all related in someway, Like how Nazism is a form of fascism , and fascism is a form of totalitarianism.Fascism is separation or denials of equality to specific segment of a population and Nazism is the stronger emphasis on race they both make up totalitarianism. Leaders that are associated with each are Franklin D. Roosevelt who follows totalitarianism ,Joseph Stalin who also follows totalitarianism, Mussolini who follows Fascism and Hitler who follows Nazism. The leaders associated with these governments gain popularity during the Great Depression because they all had Charisma, charisma is someone who has a persuasive personality. Like FDR who had a way with words to make people vote for him during the great depression people needed a leader to look up to and help them and FDR knew how to make them vote for him.Unlike Mussolini and Stalin who used Propaganda to gain popularity. These ideologies help lead to World War 2 because they all had different perspective of how the world should be runned , having different ideas, and different views of how their nation should be runned.

Fdr and joseph stalin follow totalitarianism and mussolini follows fascism and hitler follows nazism , hitler got nazism from mussolini so they are kind of the same. the leaders gain popularity during the great depression because they persuaded and all had cherisma , cherisma is making it you own , making it original .this all lead up to ideology necause there were so many different views on how life should be.

The relationship between totalitarianism, fascism, and Nazism, is that they all came from one another. For example, fascism got its ideas from totalitarianism, and Nazism adopted its ideas from fascism. A totalitarian state is a state in which the government controls every aspect of public and private lives. A fascist state is the rule of those that are considered “superior,” in other words the rich ruled the poor and working class. Fascism also included some racism. Nazism is very similar to fascism, but race is emphasized much more in Nazism, while fascism most important element was the state. Fascism and Nazism both come from the same root which is totalitarianism.

Joseph Stalin, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Winston Churchill are all associated with each other because during World War 2 they held a meeting to discuss the war and they were known as the “big three.” From the presentation, I learned that Stalin and FDR both were totalitarian leaders too. Hitler and Mussolini were associated with each other because they were both friends and Mussolini served as a big inspiration to Hitler early on, and that is how Hitler created Nazism from Fascism.

These leaders gain popularity during the Great Depression because everything was changing and there was a crisis. This gave those leaders an opportunity to rise into power. Many people fear change and the charisma of the leaders made the people feel like they were going to be alright and made them feel confident because these leaders were envisioning, energizing and enabling. They also gained popularity through censorship and propaganda. Newspapers, drawings, and paintings made these leaders look bold, and strong, and the people believed what they saw.

The ideologies help lead to World War 2 because the leaders feel like the world should be run their way, and also because they want power. For example, Hitler believed that Germany should be ridden of homosexuals, and Jewish people. As time goes on he begins to think that the WORLD should also be ridden of homosexuals and Jewish people. With countries trying to resist another countries’ power and leaders trying to rule other countries, this leads to World War 2.

In addition they are all also connected because leaders such as Frd,Joesph Stalin followed Totalitarianism and leaders such as Mussolini and HItler followed Nazism and Fascism. Moreover leaders gained popularity during the great depression because they had and presuaded (CHERISMA), Cherisma is making something yours, orignal, these definions lead to ideology.

The relationship between fascism, Nazism and totalitarianism is that each have the roots of one another and contain a powerful leader that takes fully control of peoples lives. They all connect to one another. For example, Nazism and Fascism are very similar to each other but Nazism comes from the roots of fascism, German version of fascism(Nazism). Fascism and Nazism are roots of Totalitarianism because each one have a totalitarian leader. In an order it would be fascism coming from totalitarianism and Nazism coming from fascism. There all comparable to each other because if you refer to fascism, it focuses more on the state and all kinds of races comparing this information to Nazism, Nazism focuses more on race and wanted certain people to be apart of their government like blonde hair, blue eye boys. Also, the ideas of Nazism and Fascism combine to form Totalitarianism. Totalitarianism is a single party state. Nazism is a form of socialism featuring racism and expansionism and obedience to a strong leader. Fascism is more of a political movement. Totalitarianism is dictatorship; a form of government in which the ruler is an absolute dictator. Joseph Stalin was associated with Totalitarianism along with Franklin D Roosevelt.
Benito Mussolini was associated with Fascism and then Adolf Hitler associated with Nazism. Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini was associates of each-other and from the ideas from Benito, Hitler formed Nazism.

The leaders during the Great Depression gain popularity because of the crisis that was going and the horrible suffer that people went through such as lost of jobs and businesses. That hard time brought the rise of leaders, it was an advantage. During that time, Totalitarian leaders took over everything to benefit peoples lives and provide them with either good or bad. When Hitler made Germany a totalitarian state, He did good for them such as giving them jobs and decreasing the unemployment rate. So this is a good example on how leaders was rising to provide for the crisis. I believe that it was the charisma of the leaders that was attracting the people and brain washing their minds into thinking that there ultimate and leaders at the time were making loads of promises such as providing jobs that was very pleasing to the people's ears. The leaders had to brain wash people into believing there going to make tons of changes. Charisma has a lot to do with the leader because it was the originality, inspiring and admiring talent that attracted more and more followers, With charisma these leaders were very memorable. Propaganda and censorship also gained leaders popularity. Paintings and Newspapers had an impact of the way the public viewed the leader. Both of these also changed the minds of the community on how they viewed the leader, brain-washing them to believe that these leaders were very powerful, confident, wise and different.

The ideology from these leaders help lead to WWII because if you viewed all their ideas, it would lead different directions. It would have a big impact on how the world was and cause war. Also, The countries power caused other countries to declare war. For example, When Hitler was capturing Poland and Paris. France and Britain was declaring war on Germany. That led to WWII because Hitler had strategies of dominating the world. The leaders ideology was for strength and dominating that led to WWII.

Kaleen Lynch I believe the relationship between fascism, Nazism, and Totalitarian is that they are connected like a support group, and they are impacted by one another. The relationship between Fascism, Nazism, and Totalitarianism is that they are all connected and impacted each other. Fascism is a separation or denial of equality to a specific segment of a population which was based upon belief systems. A fascist government has one class of citizens that is superior to another. Fascism equals racism. Nazism is stronger emphasis on race, in terms of social and economic policies. Nazism is a type of Fascism. Fascism and Nazism came together to form the totalitarian government.Totalitarianism is a form of government in which the ruler is an absolute dictator.

Stalin and Franklin D. Roosevelt are associated with totalitarianism. Mussolini is associated with fascism. Hitler is associated with nazism. The leader associated with these governments gain popularity during the Great Depression because the crisis people had to deal with. Some people didn't know how to handle the crisis so they look for people who do. Crisis is a window of opportunity. Many leaders are rising because of the crisis of the Great Depression. Leaders have charisma that will make people feel like they are protected and safe. To have charisma, you must be persuasive, charming, memorable, inspirational, original, and have power and talent.Mussolini and Stalin both used propaganda and censorship to gain popularity. Mussolini's goal was to recreate the Roman Empire.

The ideologies helped lead to World War 2 because it made leaders see how the world should run by their perspectives. The leaders wanted to have more power and control of the world, but they all have different ideas. Mussolini and fascism helped caused World War 2.He turned Italy into a Fascist country.Fascist idealism includes being superior to all other people like Nazism. This desire for power and dominance made Mussolini go to Africa and turned the war into a World War. Hilter practiced Nazism by setting out to eliminate the Jews.

The relation between Fascism, Nazism, and Totalitarianism is that they share all government types, run counter to "democratic freedom" and "civil liberties". For example, the Bill of Rights are civil liberties and life (safety and protection) is democratic freedom. Fascism and Nazism are types of Totalitarian governments. Fascism is more important of the state, while Nazism is more important of the race. Totalitarianism is when the government has total control over a country and/or society.

The leaders who are associated with the government types are, Mussolini, Stalin, Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR), and Hitler. Mussolini is involved with Fascism, Stalin and FDR are involved with Totalitarianism, and Hitler is involved with Nazism. These leaders used those types of governments to gain leadership during the Great Depression because the Great Depression was a time of crisis. Crisis is equal to a window of opportunity, this is where all great leaders rose from during the Great Depression. Each leader has charisma, they made people believe in their power and some, for example Hitler, used it for evil doing (Holocaust). Each government fear the people, brainwashing them with fear and power, for example, Totalitarianism used police terror to force the people to look for a follower, which are the great leaders being spoken about in class.

The ideologies that helped lead to World War II are the ideas of the leaders and the government types. In Fascism, Mussolini believed that war was acceptable upon achieving national goals. In Nazism, Hitler used his own strategies to control the world. In Totalitarianism, FDR and Stalin wanted total control of the country and/or society. It is the greed of the leaders that lead to World War II, especially the greed of the Central/Axis Power, Hitler and Mussolini. Therefore the ideology that leads to World War II is the greed of the great leaders during the time of the Great Depression and World War II.

Carly Asare.................. The relationship between nazism, facism and totalitarism is that they share a goverment type. Facism and nazism are a type of totalian goverment. Nasizm mostly focus on race while facism is more about state. Totalitarism is when the goverment has total control over the state an the people really don't have any freedom. Stalin and Franklin D. Roosevelt are associated with totalitarianism. Mussolini is associated with fascism. Hitler is associated with nazism. The leader associated with these governments gain popularity during the Great Depression because the crisis people had to deal with. Some people didn't know how to handle the crisis so they look for people who does know how.

Ashya Said.....The relationship between Fascism, Nazism, Totalitarianism is that they are worked together to build up a country after economic failure and that they impacted one another. For example I learned from the presentations that Nazism was an adopted form of Fascism. They both are the same they both took complete control of the lives of everyone in the country. The leaders that are associated with each are Benito Mussolini who was a fascist and Hitler who was associated with Nazism. Also Stalin and Franklin D. Roosevelt who were associated with Totalitarianism.
The leaders associated with these governments gain popularity during the Great Depression is because of the crisis that is going on. The crisis I’m talking about is unemployment, starvation, and damage of infrastructure. In class we learned about charisma we learned how some leaders used it to gain homage from people and how they used it to persuade people. A leader with charisma is a person with a persuasive personality, that’s has power, a person that inspires others, has good looks and that is original he makes others what to follow him.

I think the relationship between Facism, Nazism and Totalitarianism is that they are all connected. In one way or another they are alike. For example Facism is a for of Nazism. But, Nazism is the same as Toalitarism. They all have something alike in one way or another. There are many leaders that are associated with this Like the fact that Stalin is associated with Totalitarianism. Mussolini is with Fascism. And Hitler is associated with nazism. So if you think about it the leaders that came about all used one of those things to rule.I think the leaders of this time with these goverments gaim popularity during the Great Depression because during the Great Depression people needed someone. Someone that was there selling them false hope. When your sad or in need no matter what your going to turn to someone that can take charge and show you that right way. They may not be good but they seem like it. It's like candy it my look good now but in the end it's bad for you but you just need it. That's what these leaders did. The took control of the weak minded people who were and need. And, because they were in need they just went along with whatever they had to say. It help with World War 2 because the ideas they shared caused war. Because the leaders were not happy with just ruling a little bit no they wanted the world. So they tryed to take over and caused a bigger war. They wanted to gain more control and power so instead of just being happy with what they got they try to take more and cause a war.

The relationship between Fascism, Nazism, and Totalitarianism is that they all link together. Fascism is a political system where the nation or the race of people in the nation are more important than the individual. Fascist ideology is totalitarian, which means a political system that controls every aspect of life, so that there is no private sphere or independent organizations. Nazism is a variation of fascism which adds racism and antisemitism. Fascism was a major influence on Nazism. Totalitarianism is not an ideology in itself but refers to any ideology which subordinates the rights of the individual to the interests of the state. The leaders associated with totalitarianism are FDR and Stalin. The leaders associated with fascism are Hitler and Mussolini.

The leaders associated with these governments gain popularity during the Great Depression because of the crisis people had to go through. During the crisis, these leaders had the power to make people believe that they will be alright. Another thing that helped the leaders gain popularity are homages. With homages, it made the leaders look like a type of hero or someone that you can look up to.

The ideology help lead to WWII by the perspectives of each person on what the world should be. The leaders also wanted to gain more power and people to take over. They are leaders using their political power to enrich themselves. WWll was more of vengeance and greed rather than ideology if you think about it. Hitler's true reason was to get even with the world for the damages that Germany suffered in WWI.

the difference between fascsm , nazism , and totalitarianism is that they all all considered a commmunity and they are all affected by one another . for example , as i studied i learned more and more about how nazism is a form of socialism featuring racism and expansionism and obedience to a strong leader and how fascism is An authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization , both of the two have to do something with having a strong government that wants to take control . totalitarianism is a form of government in which the ruler is an absolute dictator (not restricted by a constitution or laws or opposition etc . the relationship that all of these things have is that they all want total control over everything ,Stalin and Franklin D. Roosevelt is associated with totalitarianism and Mussolini is associated with fascism and Hitler is associated with nazism. the leaders are associated with these governments become popular during the great depression because of all the destruction that happened while they were incharged .these ideologies help lead to WW2 because the destruction helped change the leaders perspective of how they wanted the world to be , with the help of other leaders ideas and perspectives they wanted to dominate the whole world. every leader wanted to be in controled of everthing and everyone so they can be the most powerful and rule everyones nation .

Fascism, Nazism and Totalitarianism are very similar in many ways. Three leaders, Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, and Joseph Stalin are common because they all were ray of hope during the great depression and came to power. They were strong, brilliant and successful leaders. Adolf Hitler is associated with Nazism. He believed that people should be Arian, and if they weren’t, he would kill them. Benito Mussolini was associated with Fascism. He believed in having power over people. Joseph Stalin was associated with Totalitarianism. He believed in not being controlled by anyone like a constitution and or laws.
Adolf Hitler gained popularity during the Great Depression because he promised the people a way out of their depression. German people had gone through a lot during World War One and they needed food, money etc. Hitler was a rotten person because he killed so many people (German Jews), and anyone who had different beliefs than him. Germans thought they needed a strong leader, and they chose Adolf Hitler. He was very brilliant and used visual propaganda. When Hitler offered the Germans a way out of depression, they were willing to take it because it was their time of need, and Hitler was well aware of that.
During the Great Depression, Mussolini gained popularity because in Europe after World War One, many people were in need of a strong leader and wanted Europe to come together as one. Mussolini moved quickly to get Europe’s attention. He was very charismatic. He gained support of the country by conquering and ruling weak countries. Mussolini believed that “a state can only survive if it successfully proves it’s military in war. Mussolini wanted to rule Italy. He stared giving speeches. He told the Italians that only a leader could bring the people together and end unemployment and political problems. Leaders going against Mussolini gave up and quit when Mussolini led a massive march on Rome.
Stalin gained power during the Great Depression because Stalin became General Secretary of the communist party. He could build up his personal files on all members. He picked on his enemies later with that information. Lenin was the leader of the Bolsheviks’ and the cause the revolution, but he was not healthy. No one knew what would go on with the party after Lenin died. So, Stalin took power in the USSR. Stalin could hire his supporters and kept them loyal because he could also fire them. Stalin put his enemies against each other.

Fascism, Nazism, and Totalitarianism are governments that feed and impact one another. Each government is used by different leaders but have the same view point when using the government. Nazism comes from certain ideas of Fascism. Both Fascism and Nazism form the government Totalitarianism. Fascism focuses on the society and equality of a population, having a classes society. Nazism focuses more on a persons race. Totalitarianism is government with total control over everything public and private.
The leaders Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, FDR, and Churchill all have a government that they followed and believed was the best to practice. Hitler was into Nazism, Mussolini was a Fascist, both Stalin and FDR are associated with Totalitarianism and Churchill took ideas from each type of government. These leaders gained popularity during the G. Depression because of the crisis people had been going through. Someone had to bring people out of this global crisis.
Each leader had there own charisma, which made them stand out from each other. Even though they may have the same government title doesn't mean they all preach it the same. The leaders used their powerful voices and confidence to make people want to follow them. Some people feared the leaders and others didn't.
These ideologies help lead to WWII because each leader had vision an how the world should be and the ideologies help shape them. With the power and ideal mind the leaders would soon believe they could dominate the world. With each leader growing in power so would their nation and their nations resources.
