The importance of the atomic bomb was to send to the was to send a message to japan that after pearl harbor they would be ready for anything. Also that they were not weak. When it was fired twice (once on August 6 and once on August 10) a message was sent to Japan to back down from the war. Also it was to inform that thier government had to change some aspects of it to fit in with the other nations. They did after the second time when everyone agreed that they could keep thier ruler Hirothio. Droping the atomic bomb now in the 21st century would be significant becasue any nation now knows that in america they will push a button and blow up your country like it was hitler setting fire to cats.

The u.s dropping the Atomic bomb was to put a fast end to the war. The USA was facing the prospect of invading Japan to subdue it. The last few battles, Iwo Jima and Okinawa particularly, were incomprehensibly bloody. Japan had no regard for its own citizens' lives and planned to turn their whole island into a fortress. This is significant today because it is something that not only american can learn from but other nations.

Even though Japanese military supplies were very limited at this point in time of the war, Truman still enforced the Japanese to sign a treaty to surrender. They declined to surrender so America dropped 2 bombs on Japan. The effect was Japan surrendered the war after the 2nd bombing. It also showed the military power America could potentially use to the world. The significance of it now is that the atomic bomb showed the world its ability to destroy anything in its path.

The significance of dropping the atomic bomb was huge as it was to end WWII (then and now). As said on pg. 849 (Bailey) "America wanted to find the easiest way to end the war as soon as possible". To that end they had always assumed the atomic bomb... Although this now plagues American conscience this is what had to been done. Along with this point is another example of the significance of dropping the bomb. This reason being a worldly tradition. In simple terms "conform or die" Japan wouldn't fully surrender unconditionally to the allies (pg. 845). Without full surrender how would America know Japan wouldnt turn on them? So this came to the point where America stated surrender or be destroyed they resist so down came the nation.

The significance of the dropping of the atomic bomb was to put an immediate end to the war and to force Japan to surrender without further fighting. It certainly convinced the Japanese to surrender. Now, it signify the crudest form of a series of powerful nuclear weapons to be eventually developed and come into existence.

The two atomic bombings on Japan showed the ability and power the U.S. had during this generation. The force of the bomb was massive leaving detrimental damage to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I agree that with Latrice that the bombing was also a quick way to end the war. Today this can be seen as significant due to the U.S.'s new technological advances. After that day, attacks woud never be looked at the same. We now have new innovative, powerful ways to cause fear and destruction.

The significance of the atomic bomb was to get Japan to surrender and to quickly end the war. On July 1945 the Potsdam Conference was held where Truman met with Stalin and British officials. They wanted Japan to surrender or be destroyed. When Japan didn't surrender the result was two atomic bomb droppings and a Russian invasion at Manchuria. These attacks are significant today because they showed the rest of the world America's strength and what would happen if another nation messes with America.

The significance of it now is that the atomic bomb has basically created an arms race.

Over all as previously stated the main goal of the bomb being dropped was to immediately end the war. It was also to force Japan to surrender without further fighting. Japan surrendered very quickly thus saving the lives of over 100,000 American soldiers and perhaps as many as 1,000,000 Japanese who would have died if we had invaded Japan. Now it causes other countries to view America with caution in regards to war. Which in turn mean America is vied as a strong power to be reconned with.

The atomic bomb was simply a way to get Japanese to surrender once and for all during WWII. In addition, since the United States were so determined to get back at the Japanese for Pearl Harbor, this was the solution to their needs. However today, the atomic bomb can be seen as a fearful destructive thing that most Americans does not want to see.
