How the Earth Began
The Evolution of Humans
In these first weeks, we have engaged with the idea that history begins before the written record. Once (wo)man begins to record his existence, our capacity to interpret the history that results becomes more nuanced. We are almost there, but first need to
Wherever we stand personally on the debate surrounding the origin of man, as critical thinkers, it is imperative for us to engage with the ideas of creationism, evolution and survival of the fittest. Let's use this space to share with each other ideas or thoughts that help us make sense of it all before we begin to more closely look at the beginning of human civilization.
Use the resources above, your "6-4-2 open reflective notes" and your interpretation of Chapter 1 to REFLECT (see reflection rubric) here on essential question: What is the debate about evolution? How did we (humans) get the opportunity to make history?

The debate about evolution is that some people are kind of controversial about the whole topic. The reason because of this is creationism. Some people don't believe in evolution. Some people believe that God created the world in 6 days. The whole topic kind of crushes the Creatism theory for some people. It interrupts it in a way and confuses some people who are not very sure about their belief.
I think humans got an opportunity to to make history when language and writing started. At this point we were able to write down our history.

Evolution and Creationism is debated about everywhere. People think that these two things can run into religion and don't agree with children learning about it. But in the end it all comes down to what a person believes in.
On the other hand Humans made history right from the beginning when Adam and Eve were created and then the process of more humans being alive made more marks of them throughout the world. Learning about how humans survived millions of years ago involves how the tings they did were somewhat passed down.
the debate between evolution and creationism is should it be taught in the class rooms of Ohio.I personally think it should be taught in class. The reason I think that is because in class it is ok to teach evolution but they should teach creatism so the kids can see another point of view of the beginning of life
The debate about evolution is really all down to what we believe in. There are those that are accustomed to creationism because do they believe there is a God. On the other hand, others choose to think in a more scientific sense that life began with a theory. It's such a controversial topic because you have to look at it from these different perspectives that the public may or may not agree with. It's understandable that if creationism was taught in schools, those without religion or believe in atheism would concur. And for those that do have a religion, it may be offensive to their beliefs or from what they've learned in their past studies. We as humans got the chance to make history by trying to uncover these mysteries ourselves. By analyzing fossils/artifacts and running tests, we're all contributing to the evidence of evolution.
There is a debate about evolution and creationism. Many people have different views all around the world on these two topics and with creation and evolution being very controversial topics every person has a different view and thought on what they think about the two. Some people believe in creationism which is basically the idea that God created everything in the world within 6 days and evolution is the idea based on predictions and more science background. I think humans got the opportunity to make history by just being on earth adapting to the world as time moved on now making humans the dominant rulers of the world.
The Debate about evolution... I watched a video and it talked about the origins of how life began and their were many theories. One of the theories were about the scientific aspect of how life began. The other theory talked about the religious aspect of how life began. Humans made history by making tools, language and become civilized.
The debate about evolution is that its all your opinion because some agree with creationism from the video and some agree with evolution are they both wrong?, No because again its all in the perspective.(This is after watching the debate about evolution) How did we get the opportunity to make history is because we are able to talk and write, therefore we are able to have and make records, find artifacts, and create new things for the future to come.(This is after watching the cosmos and the evolution of humans.)Also the earth started out by carbon dioxide, red skies, molten lava, and lightning. Then the world evolved and the were sea creatures then animals then ancient humans that eventually evolved to what we are now. ( this is after watching the evolution of humans.)

The debate about evolution is usually what we all believe in or have thoughts of. Some people might think the universe had started because God created it. But some others really cannot prove the fact that God actually made this universe. Those others would think differently. Also, us humans made history by making tools, arts, creating cultural families, and etc. In summation, I wish there was some way we could go back in time so we could actually see and witness how the universe began and how us humans made history.
We humans got the opportunity to make history because of Culture. Culture is ancient and it was created by humans. Still to this day, from centuries ago, we still have culture that was passed down.
The debate about evolution is that others think the process happened differently. Of course, when two or more people don't agree on something, they argue about it. Some people don't believe in evolution. Which is pretty stupid in my opinion. Scientists can prove how organisms evolved over time because of fossils. But people can find this offensive to their beliefs.
The debate about evolution is mainly is one’s belief. I, personally, believe in creationism. Some may disagree, some may agree, but honestly you don’t have to look at the world in one perspective. From talking to other students that agree with me, we even came to a conclusion that you cannot attempt to understand the miraculous works of God. He’s God!
Also, we said that we believe that God created the kinds of species. They may not have necessarily looked exactly like what they look like now. They could’ve adapted from then. As previously stated, you don’t have to look at it in one perspective. It doesn’t always have to be cut and dry. There can be some alterations after one thing happened.
Ken Ham even said that pro-creationist even use the scientific method in the Evolution vs Creationism Debate. Most things revolve around science but not everything technically was made from it. Science may have adapted it, and henceforth the whole survival of the fittest thing took place, but first God created it.
I believe that man got the opportunity to make history because we are the dominant species. Man has more intelligence than any other species. We walk upright, developed our own languages, manipulate fire, etc. We are the dominant species and we have the right to make and control history. We can either nourish or destroy it but it is our choice.

In our solar system there are 8 planets, so why on the third planet from the sun has life decided to take refuge? Where did Life on this planet come from?
What is the debate about evolution?
There is a pretty well known theory about how the universe started and it’s the big bang theory. It suggests the universe was created when gases came together and caused a big bang. According to the origins of life video early earth was no Garden of Eden (garden in the bible) and it was under torment for many years, the sky was red and the oceans were green, also it says a planet slammed into the earth and it led to the creation of earth’s moon. It’s also says Life started to form soon after this and the planet was filled with a gas deadly to humans but not deadly to the life that was on the planet. The gas was Hydrogen Sulfide and the life form was bacteria.
Evolutionist believe Humans evolved from human like ancestors and have survived and adjusted and lived this long.
Creationists believe God made man in his image, and out of dust man was created and from man a rib was taken and woman was created as mans companion.
Evolutionist Bill Nye thinks the creationist's idea is absurd. One Idea he speaks on is Noah's Ark. In the bible Noah builds an enormous ark as God instructs to survive and 40 day and 40 night long flood. According to Bill Nye all the species of Animals could not have fit on the Ark. Ken Ham replies and says God says he made all "kinds" of animals not all species. Bill Nye also talks about trees that are over 6,000 years old and how could these trees still be alive if they were under water during a flood 4000 years ago.
Bill Nye also says no one knows where the atoms that formed the universe came from and no one knows where consciousness of this matter came from. Ken Ham replies and states that there is one book in the world that tells us both of these things and it’s the bible it tells us God created the heavens and the earth and also that God breathed into man and gave him life.
Evolutionist think man's evolution mostly started because of one simple action, and it was standing up. They believe that because man stood up the spine eventually changed to adjust to allow humans to walk. They also believe that standing up led to the creation of tools which led to cooked food which led to better operating brains.
Personal Response:
I am a Christian and I feel that no matter how hard we try we cannot possibly attempt to understand God and his magnificent ways. I believe God created us; I think the universe's Big Band occurred as a result of his command "Let there be Light". I believe Man was made in God's image and we were not some low life form that evolved into a more intelligent one.
Although evolution theories make sense I think creationist theories make more sense to me and give me more comfort. I love knowing that there is someone out there in charge of the universe and the heavens I love knowing that he loves us no matter what and wants us to follow him. I am here because God exists and I am here to serve him. N Many people do now agree with me and believe in many other things and I have no quarrel with others beliefs I just have one statement towards those people and here it is, God loves us and he sent his son to die for us and our sins, he wants you to live with him eternally and all we have to is accept his son.
Evolutionist think humans evolved to get to where we are and personally I do not agree I think we were made by the creator. I do not want to offend anyone by my beliefs but I cannot forsake my God and I will not deny him the glory he deserves. So in the end I think the debate about evolution is all about choice, it’s our choice as humans what we choose to believe in. Evolution or Creationism it’s your choice what you believe in.
We humans got the chance to make history by simply existing, we will get to make history by doing something in the present making a difference in the world and it can start by simply choosing something to believe in
What is the debate about evolution? How did us humans get the opportunity to make history?
The two sides of this debate are creationism and evolution. Starting off with evolution. Evolution is the belief that the world including animals, humans, and all living and nonliving things, came to be by evolving from their ancestors. They evolved by adapting to the changes happening around them.
There are many things that show that evolution. These so called "things" are evidence. Evidence includes fossils and artifacts such as bones and weapons. The bones that many historians have found show the change that past humans made in order to survive and reproduce.
Creationism is another part of this debate. Creationism is the belief that God created the world and everything in it.
The huge debate between these two subjects is mostly religion. As we know, not everyone is part of the catholic/christian religion, therefore they do not believe in God. Many people are also saying that the idea of creationism should not be taught in schools because of this reason.
In a video that we have watched recently, The Bill Nye and Ken Ham debate video, the two debaters go back and forth with strong evidence to support what they believe. Bill Nye believes in the idea of evolution and Ken Ham believes in the idea of creationism. In the video, Bill gave evidence of the biblical story of Noah's ark. He, of course explains the story of how the ark was built to protect the animals so they can further reproduce. Nye states that there are trees that are over 6,000 years old. His question was how could these trees possibly survive such a flood that occurred about 4,000 years ago?
My personal opinion is that God created the world and everything in it. As a Catholic, this is what I have been taught since as long as I can remember. As you can see, the idea of evolution is supported very well by strong evidence and there is even more as you go in depth but personally I believe in Creationism because it is something that I was raised with and something that I feel comfortable with.

We humans got the opportunity to make history by leaving things such as artifacts and fossils. Because of these things we are able to look back into what life was like. I believe that we get to make history by advancing in things like technology, cultures, etc. Advancing in these things will allow us excel for future purposes

For us as humans to create history is to basically live, but not live just any plain and simple life but to try and thrive.also, if necessary to Wright any wrongs that could make an positive impact on even one persons heart.even of it's only one or two people you'll still be making a difference which is creating history.to create history one must fully understand and believe in the matter so much that others will follow and cause an impact.WHICH IS HISTORY... AN( IMPACT).
This is zafirs sorry for not adding my name
I believe that the debate about evolution is based upon the beliefs of people. Some people like Ken Ham believe in Creationism, which means that he believes that God(a supernatural force) created the Earth in 6 days 6,000 years ago. Other people like Bill Nye believe that the Earth was created after the Big Bang billions of years ago. Looking at these very different perspectives makes this a very controversial and debatable topic.
The people of Ohio are having a court fight about whether or not Creationism should be taught in classrooms. A person told the Columbus Dispatch that students should hear about Intelligent Design along with evolution. The proposed science standards would however, “prohibit political or religious interpretation of scientific facts in favor of another.” In my opinion, teaching only one version of anything is really boring because there would not be much of a discussion.
Why would you believe in one side of an argument when the majority of the evidence points to the other? Evolution versus Creationism has been a controversial issue for many years, and still is. Both sides have convincing arguments and good reasons why the other side's opinion is not correct, but which theory is the more probable one? Both theories have very different ideas. Creationists believe that concept and design require a Creator, and when the principals of detecting design are applied to living organisms, they find it a reasonable explanation to believe in the existence of a Creator or Designer, or in other words, a higher power. Creationists generally believe that all organisms were created as single, distinct organisms, while Evolutionists think that life started from single celled organisms such as bacteria, then evolved into complex organisms, changing over time, some even into different, distinct animals through evolution since c ontinuous evolution over a very long period of time can result in the development of new varieties and species. I think we humans get the opportunity to make history from evolution and creationism.
Did you ever have thoughts on why and how are we here? The debate over evolution and creationism has been around since the dawn of time. Still till this day people are still arguing about this topic. In my old school we were not allowed to learn about creationism, but we were allowed to learn about evolution. That makes me turn my head and think, "Creationism is a science. It uses the Scientific Method." I am Catholic and I believe in God, and Jesus, but one thing I don't believe in is what Ken Ham said. He basically said that the universe has been around for only 6,000 YEARS. You know how short of a time that is. Fossils show that the world has been around for way more than 6,000 years. In addition, some people believe in that their is only one universe, which is ours. I think there is infinity amount of space in the universe, and we humans are just a little tiny spect of it. I have been thinking about my own,"hypothesis." What is God created evolution. It merges the ideas of both together. Like how our universe is 4 billions years old, but God created all universes in just 6 days. That's
my stand on the topic, but you have to take other peoples preferences into consideration. The debate over evolution and creationism with Ken Ham and Bill Nye, is a great example. Ken is a creationist, while Bill is a evolutionist. The two argue about how Noah's Ark really happened or not. I believe it did, and Bill Nye is wrong. Back in the time of the renaisance a scientist believed in more than universe. He was disgraced by his people and eventually killed. This still goes on today, but not to the point of killing. What I am trying say is everyone will stand their ground, and believe in what they want to believe in. It's not to anyone to judge if they are wrong or not. That is why I feel this conversation, may not be needed, because the truth is we will probably never know how we came to be. So by arguing we are wasting our time, and we could be starting new history and new discoveries. So what do you believe in, Evolution or Creationism. -Jeffrey Beres
What is the debate about evolution? How do humans have the opportunity to make history?
The debate of evolution is an on going debate. It is between evolution and creationism, no one can fully say if the we were created by God or evolving over time from different animals. Some people believe we start from fish that had feet and also went on land. In my opinion I’m leaning more on creationism because how can any of the animals or anything that is in the universe be created by evolution if nothing was here to start. I think humans have the opportunity to make history because we already created culture, technology, and automobiles. We also have the technology to make more and more things that make history.
-Richie Fiorella
The debate about evolution comes down to one simple thing. Beliefs. It's all about what we believe in, we all have different beliefs that have us all believing in something different. But, do we really know what one is really right? Not exactly, if you believe in God then you believe he created life and history. People on the other hand, who don't believe God is their creator, believe that it's just a theory. There are many different points of views and not everyone is going to agree with the other. We make up history and keep showing evidence of evolution from trying to figure things out and also by having proof of animals from long ago when we dig up their fossils. We keep digging at the surface and uncovering more and more facts about our ancient past, proving more things about evolution and creating history.
What Is the Debate About Evolution?
The debate about evolution is that, were we created by God or did we evolve from early primates? My personal perspective on this is that God created Heaven and Earth. In the Bible,it reads in Genesis 1:1,”In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.” Another reason why Creationism is real is because it says in Genesis 1:26-27, is that it reads, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, d and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” In this Bible verse, it tells us that God had createman in his own image and from which he made woman from man, not man evolved from primates.
How Did We Humans Get the Opportunity to Make History
Humans got the opportunity to make history when we made great discoveries, explored places, invented new technology and made great accomplishments. One of our great accomplishments is when we landed on the moon on July 20th,1969. Another great accomplishment is when we gained our independence from Britain on July 4th,1776. We explored Egypt, where we found hieroglyphics and tombstones of great kings of the past. New technology is being made everyday by young men and women of the world and our knowledge is expanding when we discover something new.
~Sarafiena Angus~
Evolution is the belief that our species evolved from early primates. Creationism is the belief that God created the world in six days. The whole controversy between these two theories is that people want to pick one as the correct answer to the question of how the world started.
During Bill Nye and Ken Ham's debate Mr.Nye says "How did the atoms that created the big bang get there?". I believe Mr.Nye revealed a flaw in the theory of evolution. In response to this Mr.Ham quotes the Bible "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." This made me think, why can't evolution and creationism have a chain reaction kind of relationship? Think about it. God created us but to survive we must adjust and adapt to our environment hence survival of the fittest.Mr.Nye had a question on evolution and Mr.Ham answered it with part of the creationism belief.
The debate will continue, for how long no one can say for sure. When I review this debate I wonder where this information comes from. Humans have been making history since they've appeared on earth. But writing systems where not created until about 3200 BCE so how do we know what me know about the past? How did we get this chance to document our history? I believe the answer is research. Articles like the Cro Magnons and secondary sources like the history textbooks show how us humans went back and studied where we came from, how we changed, and what were like. No one can understand humans more than other humans. We got the opportunity to make history so the future of our species will be able to understand the past.
There is a debate about evolution. Many people have different views all around the world on the debate about evolution. One way or another people from all walks of life have different reasoning on how life came to be and how the human existence began. Some people believe in a number of different theories, ideas, concepts, science, or biblical beliefs on how the existence of life came to be and how humans developed or formed over time. Evolution and creationism is debated just about everywhere. Creationism is the basic belief based upon biblical background that God created everything that exists in the world today in 6 days and it is the complete opposite of the idea of evolution. On the other hand many people believe in evolution, which is the idea that humans and other living organisms gradually developed and formed over time. The problem with these two ideas is that not everyone can agree on either method or rather idea and either one idea is supported with enough reliable, believable evidence. Also evolution is based on predictions, natural law, experience, and scientific method. Some people choose not believe in any of the two because of ones personal opinions and general beliefs. From both perspectives creationists and evolutionists both agree to a certain extent. They both agree in some sort of method on which how life was formed but disagree on the interpretation of evidence and what evidence really qualifies and is supportive enough. I think humans had the chance to make history in many ways. I believe when humans began to create civilizations that was when humans were able to make history. Civilizations opened up social structure, writing, stable food supply, religion, technology, and culture. ~ Shania Bennett

Bill Nye and Ken Ham debate
World History textbook
I think the debate about evolution is the beliefs and opinions. People have many of their own opinions on beliefs. Some believe in creationism. Others believe in evolution. Evolution is mainly the survival of the fittest which means only the strongest will survive and their traits will pass to the next generation. Creationism is the belief that God created Earth and made man in his own image. But everyone has their own opinions and no matter what no one can really change it. The debate with Bill Nye and Ken Ham was all about who they believed created the world. They provided evidence and gave really good points but that can’t change what people believe in. I believe this topic has many different answers to it and we can’t really decide which one is the right answer without evidence. People will stick to what they believe in because of their religion and their own mind.
We humans got the opportunity to make history because we got to discover fossils and study the past life through books and experiments. We humans make history. Scientists are the ones who are always finding a way to get more information on life and how it began. They are always finding new ways to learn new things about the past life and evolution so that we humans can have an opportunity to make history ourselves.
The debate between creationism vs evolution has been going on since Charles Darwin first published his theory of evolution in 1859. His theory of Natural Selection describes how evolutionary changes developed through the production of differences in each generation and how the fittest would survive due to their characteristics giving them more opportunities to reproduce and insure the survival of their offspring. This theory proposed by Charles Darwin has been accepted by many people, however, some argue that it was God who created every living thing as describe in the Bible in the Genesis. Thought there is evidence that supports how evolution might have happened people still doubt if it was creationism or evolution that created all life. This question has not yet been answer but has not stop scientist from trying to find out how we came into being. It all started 4 billion years ago when Earth was covered by lava and the environment suggested that it was impossible to live in. So, how did we come into being? Scientist believe that early cells might’ve had originated in early Earth extreme environment such as single cells organism archaea bacteria which are found in similar conditions early Earth might’ve had. Scientist also have suggested that perhaps life originated from space by the arrival of meteors or comets. Which carry a substance called amino acid that make up the building blocks of life. But how could amino acids survived the collapsed with Earth? A scientist, Amanda Blank conducted an experiment using advanced technology to find out whether amino acids could have survived the collapse. The results suggested that amino acids could have survived the collapse with Earth thus creating peptides when carbon and other substances combined. To add, due to the collapse and the creation of peptides it formed larger building blocks of protein that make up the cells in our bodies. Although it’s only a theory that has been experimented but not proven true, people still support the idea of evolution of how we came into being. On the contrary, creationist belief that God created the Earth in six days as describe in the Genesis. During the six days God created light and darkness, oceans, land, vegetation, and living creatures. And on the six day God created a being with his own image, humankind. He created the man from dust and the woman from the man’s rib. Many religious beliefs come from the Bible and its testaments and those who belief in God the Creator tend to belief in creationism no matter what scientist try to prove about evolution as seen in the debate between Bill Nye and Ken Ham. But in the end it all comes down to what you choose to belief. And what you want to acknowledge. I believe every day we are able to make history by discovering new artifacts, fossils, technology and etc. through this discoveries we are able to see at the past and what early humans did that contributed to the advancements in society, culture, language, religion, and beliefs. We may not know where or how we came into being or who or what created us but we all decide in the end what we choose to belief and how to shape our history.

The debate about Creationism and Evolution is a major debate all over the world. Its all about what you believe. If you are a Creationist you believe in God and how he created the world, but if you are an Evolutionist you believe that we evolved from apes or monkeys. The main thing in history that made humans able to create it was probably communication as in pictures(writing) and sign languages (speaking languages).

In my opinion, the debate about evolution is what we believe in. For instance, Ken Ham believes that God had created the world 6,000 year ago. However, Bill Nye states that the Earth was created billions of years ago after the Big Bang. For Ham’s statement, some people might disagree that God created the world because you cannot prove that God created it. So, I believe that the world was created differently than what others say it was created. I think that there is no way into proving that God had created the world. Actually, there is no way into proving who or what created the universe. Humans also made history by crops, culture, making tools, building shelter to survive, and etc. In summation, like I stated in the beginning, he debate about evolution is what we all believe in and what we'd discovered.
Ps: I believe this is the quiz response that is due today at 12:00am. Please notify me is this isn't the correct response. Thank you.
I think that the debate is that children in school may not believe in evolution and are being taught a false teaching based on their Religion. For creationism to be taught in schools which would be for a majority of the kids, okay but for other students that may not believe in it is not.
Other reasons there are debates are because some people “believe that their is no God or higher being. They believe that all the nutrients came from a rock from space and we evolved from animals.
Other evolutionist believe that the world was completely covered in lava. But there still many questions left a couple are:where did all the beautiful greenery come from?, How did the animals just appear? It doesn't make sense. Yet, they believe that people who believe that God created the earth are crazy but its not crazy to think that the earth was created in a big bang and animals came from nowhere and we evolved from them.
You know they have one thing right though, because when God spoke the world into existent there was a bang, a big one. As for how to explain it. I can't but God covers his tracks and works in mysterious ways and all will reveal in the end.
Humans made the opportunity to make history in good and bad ways such as: hurting, polluting, and destroying the earth. Also, killing lots of people and thinking “ Hey, we did a good job today” but inside the soldiers mind they deteriorate and get PTSD and after everything is through they get Alzheimer's. But Not all people are like that and Americans do good everyday. They created a free country for everyone. -Suhmer Gantt
The debate about evolution vs. creationism is both political and religious. It is a very sticky debate because you are discussing people's beliefs. I personally believe in creationism. I am not a very religious person but I like to believe God created the world because I don't like being thought of as a science experiment. Although, I also do acknowledge the science view of it. Especially when it comes to the mammal "Lucy" that we learned about. This evidence really made me see the connection between human beings and science. Everyone is not as open minded about this topic. As we saw in the Ohio, Cleveland case, the school board wasn't sure which view should be taught in schools. Especially, in that part of America where religion played a very large role in the decision. The school board decided to just let evolution be taught in schools. I don't necessarily agree with their decision. Just as one might be offended if creationism is taught because it contradicts their religion, one might be equally upset if just evolution is taught. I think they should meet in the middle and discuss both topics. Humans have made history since the very beginning. When they began creating civilizations, jobs, and government, this all when history began. Without them knowing, they have shaped everything we know and do today. We know about all of the advances they have made in civilization based on all of the artifacts, art, and other evidence they left behind. Humans didn't just get an opportunity to make his history, they have shaped the future.
What is the debate about evolution? In todays world this debate is a very picky situation. Was it creationism or god that created the universe? Or was it the factors of science and evolution? Both sides give specific types of evidence. For example, evolutionist believe that a God couldn't have created the universe and its inhabitants as it shows throughout millions of years that homosapiens were once four legged creatures. Creationism uses evidence from the bible that has been taught for thousands of years in the christian faith. I feel that this debate will never have a solid “winner” with full proof mainly because it is all up to a person's point of view.
I feel that man has the ability to make history because without us the world will not be where it is today. It was man that started the agricultural revolution. That later led to the founding of new tools. With these new tools crops and trade was invented. This later led to new specialized workers, advanced civilizations and new cultures. In the future I believe man will continue to change the world due to the main fact that we have the power to shape history. Always did. Always will.
Wherever we stand personally on the debate surrounding the origin of man, it is important for us to get involved with the ideas of creationism, evolution and survival of the fittest. I think everyone has a choice in what they believe in. It is freedom of speech. Ken Ham and Bill Nye have debated about if the world was formed by creationism or evolution. Ohio schools have debated if they should teach creation or evolution to the students.
In this Darwin vs. Divinity debate with Ken Ham and Bill Nye, Ken Ham defending creationism and Bill Nye defending evolution. Ken Ham tells the audience about Noah’s Ark and the flood that happened world wide about 6,000 years ago. Bill Nye tells us that there are trees in California that are over 6,000 years old; and asks us the question of how can those trees be there when the enormous flood came their way. When Bill Nye and Ken Ham were given the question of “how did the atoms that created the Big Bang get there?” Bill Nye tells us that this is a great mystery and no one knows why. No one knows what was before the Big Bang either. He tells us that this is what we are still trying to solve everyday. Ken Ham tells the audience that “there is actually a book out there (referring to the bible)… and the very first sentence of that book is ‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.’” Here, he is saying that it is the only idea that makes sense to us.
I think that the world was created by God(creation). I think this because how did all of the planets come to be here? Some think that it was just a big bang and everything appeared. When I think of this or hear of this it makes me wounder what made that bang? There has to be and explanation.Right? Or was it just evolution? The world just made itself. Scientist believe that the world was flooded and a chemical was in that water. Then the water was hit with lighten and made DNA. In the creation of the earth(universe) God had made the second time a flood that had went on for days. Then a rainbow had shown in the sky letting the humans on the ark know that the flood was over letting all of the humans live on land again. From there they began to build up the population again. Both of these stories can relate to each other. There is just one thing some scientist say that something can't come from nothing. So how could there be nothing then the world?
Their is currently an ongoing debate on whether the theory of creationism or the theory of evolution is the more superior answer in how we as humans were created into this world. Over my research I have found that both sides bring up an abundance of evidence based on science and history alone. In the Bill Nye versus Ken Ham debate on evolution, Nye (Evolution) supports his statements on just common sense that is then related to current scientific observations and studies on the planet we live on. That the theory in which Ham supports (Creationism) is illogical in multiple point of it idea. However Ham points out that scientists and explorers in general could not have known of the scientific situation back in time so you do not know if the environment is the same as it is currently. Which gives an ongoing struggle between two ideals on what the basis of our origins should be.
Humans started to gain intelligence which began a long chain of events that led to how we currently make history. We have gotten to the point where we can study and interpret the past to continue what we currently know.
Beliefs is a major characteristic for the debate between evolution and creationism. The twos sides are the scientific belief and the Christian belief. The Scientific theory(evolution) is that we evolved from early organisms/primates because of how we walk upright on two legs. Everything that have the qualities of what they do today come from their ancestors and have adapted to surroundings over time. The Christian belief(creationism) is that God created Adam and Eve and that's where humans came from. That God created Heaven and earth in 6 days. The debate is 'which theory is true?' and 'which should be taught in schools?'. In my opinion I am very confused. I am Christian and when I go to church I am taught that God is the creator but, the next day when I go to school I am taught that we came from early ancestors and have adapted over time. This causes my thoughts to be very jumbled. But, when I had a conversation in class with 2 other students it had me think 'what if both theory's are accurate?'. Maybe God did create the heavens and the earths and everything in-between but Adam and Eve did not look like modern humans today. The thought crossed my mind that all of the fossils found that show our ancestors were maybe what Adam and Eve looked like, that this was how God may have created them. It made me think maybe we did adapt and change over time to look like what we are now. Therefor there is a strong possibility that both theory's are true because both support great amount of evidence. Thus the debate on evolution and creationism.
What is the debate about evolution? I think that the debate is based off of how people view the world. It means that if one person believes in a god or great I am then they may go with that and then with someone who believes in the more science would go with evolution. From many peoples perspectives eery thing is not the same, whether its me, Barrack Obama, or kobe bryant we all see the world differently. It really makes an impact on everything. Even with the calenders it all comes down to what people have there mind set on. I saw to different people on the street and they were holding signs and they said "what is the world in view"? To me that says that people all over the globe have diffrerent opinions about the same question. Then people ask how do we get the chance to make history? Well we make history every day whether it benlearning to walk or sending a man to the moon. No matter how small it is its still history in the making. Then we record past history so we can find out more about ourselves and our backgrounds. So its really based off of doing every day things to make history nommatter how big or small it is.
**This is my final draft.
I believe the debate about evolution is really all down to what we believe in. There are those that are accustomed to creationism because do they believe there is a God; that He created the earth and made man in his own image. On the other hand, others choose to think in a more scientific sense that life began with a theory; that a small singularity developed to life as we know it today over a span of 13.8 billion years. It's such a controversial topic because you have to look at it from these different perspectives that the public may or may not agree with. It's understandable that if creationism was taught in schools, those without religion or believe in atheism would concur since they don’t believe in any God. For those that do have a religion, teaching an evolutionary theory may be offensive to their beliefs or from what they've learned in their past studies. We as humans got the chance to make history by trying to uncover these mysteries ourselves. By analyzing fossils and artifacts, making new discoveries, and running tests, we're all contributing to the evidence of evolution. In the Bill Nye vs. Ken Ham debate, the host had asked, “How did the atoms that created the Big Bang get there?” to which Bill Nye responded that no one knows and this is exactly why people are driven to continue researching. However, Ken Ham had refuted that there’s a book out there that actually states where man came from, with a follow-up that the first sentence in the Bible says that God created the heavens and the earth. I feel that the idea of evolution is just one giant paradox and that the mysteries can never be confirmed.

The debate about evolution comes down to what you believe. It’s a fight against science and faith. Archeologist made an assumption that we(humans) come from monkeys backing it up with evidence from fossils. People who believe life came from faith believes God created life in 6 days. After watching the debate with Bill and Ken I saw both perspectives of the argument. Even though the debate is mostly about who believes what, it comes down to the facts presented for both sides. Astropolificus is a monkey/human that archeologists found artifacts proving that this creature was real. There is proof showing that many different species could have went in noahs ark during the flood.
I believe humans got the chance to make history. They got this chance when they created language, art, time, food. Also, when they made tools. Lastly how archaeologist studied fossils.
The debate on evolution has been a very sensitive topic for thousands of years. The debate has been divided between creationists and evolutionist. The study of Creationism is the theory that god created the world in 6 days and created man in his own image while evolution is basically survival of the fittest all surrounding surrounding the idea of the big bang theory. These two theories have been deeply discussed between people all across the world for many of years because everybody has specific cultural ideas and believes in which persuade them to have there own opinion of the topic. In the Ohio, Cleveland case even the school district was trying to come to a compromise on what should be taught in school districts and although evolution was what came put on top i believe that the debate is a matter of opinion and regardless of what few people think the debate on evolution and creationism will never really be solved until more truth is learned.
Although people can't settle the controversy between evolution and creationism, us humans have to ability to use fossils and artifacts from thousands of years ago to discover early humans behaviors and rediscovered lost information about human life. Us humans throughout the world have been given the opportunity to make history and countless times it has been done. Us humans have invented countless tools, technology, and even agriculture over the years which has really impacted the world. Humans are the main predators of the world who have larger brain capacities than Any other animal alive and because of this have made history and accomplished all that we have today.

The big debate about creationism and evolution isn’t about truth or fiction, it’s about what each person holds true to their heart. There are some who believe that the Big Bang Theory is how the universe was created. I am not one of them. I am a part of the creationism group which believe in a higher power, a creator if you may. In Ohio, there is a bill that is in the process of being reviewed, which states that creationism will be taught in the classroom to accommodate religious students, while continuing to teach the theory of evolution.
There will always be students who don’t believe in what is being taught by the teachers. You won’t be able to teach to everyone’s liking or view point. Evolutionists like Bill Nye want to be able to predict nature, understand everything that is presented to them, and don’t find Biblical stories such as Noah’s Ark as reasonable. Creationists such as Ken Ham and his scientists’ experiments are similar to Bill Nye and other evolutionists, but he bases his experiments according to the Bible. Ken Ham also states that since we weren’t on earth at the time these miracles occurred, we are just speculating and making assumptions.
Bill Nye also believes that creationism is a fad that will die out in a few hundred years. If this were true, then I have a question for him. If creationism was a fad that was going to die out in a few hundred years, why hasn’t it died out? Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are the three most widely known religions in the world and they have been around for eons and time undocumented before then.
At this point in time, we can look back and say that humans also changed themselves over time because of necessity. The making of tools were because humans started walking on two legs instead of crawling around on all fours and slouching over. Humans have made history by changing the world with their imagination. Humans changed the world from a wasteland and an animal paradise to shaping it into what we desired. Humans shaped the earth into an advanced civilization. All in all, creationism and the scientific theory are two sides of a wall, and it all depends on which side someone is standing.

How did us (humans) come about? Everyone has different opinions about how humans got here on earth. This brings me up to the debate about evolution. I believe that the debate about evolution is based off of what we believe in. Some may believe in Creationism, which is the belief that god made us when he created earth in 6 days, 6,000 years ago, and some may believe in Evolution, the belief in which we evolved from earlier primates. After watching videos, reading the Ohio article, and listening to other students ideas and reasoning about Creationism and Evolution I began to think differently. Before watching the videos, I was 100% sure that Creationism was the way, but as I watched the Bill Nye(Evolution) and Ken Ham(Creationism) debate, I started to think a little differently. Both of the debaters had great statements and reasoning, which made me very confused. I agree with Kaia. I mean what if both theory's are correct? But then again I see evolution as being more accurate, I say this because of all the fossils and evidence they have found are from billions of years ago. Us humans had the opportunity to create history just by living. We live, and pass down traditions to the next generation. The Creatism and Evolution debate is a very complex situation.I don't think this debate will ever be settled.
The debate about evolution is between the Creationists and the Evolutionists. Creationists believe that God created the earth in six days and made man in his image, while Evolutionists believe that we evolved to get where we are now. The Creationists have a religion and a bible that supports their beliefs in God and creation. Evolutionists have evidence found through the excavation and studying of fossils to support their claims of evolution. Those fossils show a significant change, and how we went from walking on four legs to walking on two feet.
What has given us the opportunity as humans to make history is that we were in the right place in the right time and evolved/adapted to our environment. We ended up on a planet full of animals for food, and in a time where we were becoming better suited to survive in our environment. We were the only animals to create tools, and to walk on two legs which allowed us to cover longer distances in less time in order to find food and places to live for short periods of time. As we became more civilized and our rituals and villages became cultures and cities, we eventually began documenting what was happening and what our beliefs were. We wrote what was happening within those cultures and cities. We documented our own history, and we were given the opportunity by where we were and how we evolved.
The debate about evolution is a very controversial subject. Did God create the whole world in just six days? Or did every thing simply just evolve? I guess to answer this question it depends on your beliefs. I, for one, am a catholic and was taught that God made the world, so I guess you could say that's what I believe. But I love learning about different things and different ways of living or, in this case, believing. There are some subjects that I truly believe He, God, did do because of how I was raised. But there are others that I think would make more sense if science were to explain it.
I believe we make history everyday. It may not necessarily be a huge deal to the rest of the world that I finished my math homework on radicals ten minutes ago, but it is history. I also had chicken for dinner last night. We don't think of it as history after it happens but that's exactly what it is. We are given the chance to make history the second we come into this world and every minute after. At least that's my reflection of it.
The debate about evolution and creationism is going on everywhere and people still have questions about it. I think the debate has to do with peoples beliefs. Everyone doesn't believe in the same thing.Humans made history by leaving behind evidence, such as bones and art. For example the text says (pg 11) "the finding on cave walls of drawings of animals etc gives information on daily activities and perhaps even religious practices of these people"
The debate is about how people think either God or evolution create the world. Everyone was taught how the world created. In the video (Bill Nye vs Ken Ham). Bill Nye thinks that the world was made from evolution. Ken Ham thought that the world was created from God. They both went back and forth using evidence and facts to debate on how the world was created.
I think that the world was created from God. I think this because how did the world come to be, Did it just appear out of nowhere? God had to create the first living organisms because how else would they have lived. It says in the Bible that God created our work and I believe thats right. Other people might think a differently about creationism. Others believe that we came from austropicaltes. Everyone has their own understanding of how the world came to be today. There isn't a wrong because no one really knows how the world was created. Scientist have found fossils and artifacts. Every person has their own perspective or was taught a way.
The debate about evolution is very controversial. Did we evolve from a single cell or do we originate from some act of divine creation? It pretty much comes down to what every person believes in. If you think someone created us and placed us on this Earth, keep thinking that. I'm not going to tell you otherwise, because you can believe in whatever you want to. The same thing goes for people who believe in evolution. Now I don't have a specific belief, but I tend to lean more towards evolution, because there is actual, physical proof-such as fossils- that we evolved from something else. I know that the Bible is also proof of creationism or God's existence, but it's just words. There is no other physical proof that someone placed us here. Maybe if there were video footage I'd be a bit more conflicted, but there still seems to be more proof of evolution than creationism.
Making history can be easy. Everyone has history, and everything is history. History means his story. But it's the big things in history that catch everyone's attention and makes them want to continue to make history. Whenever we make new discoveries or anything worth noting or remembering, we get the chance to make history. There is always an opportunity to make history, you just have to find it.
There are many, many different religions that have different concepts of creationism. It is somewhat offensive to teach just evolution in schools, as others may have different beliefs. However, in the end, you can’t please everyone. Some don’t believe in evolution. Some don’t believe in the concept of God creating the world in six days. Some don’t believe in either of them. Honestly, you can cover one or two ideas of creationism but it wouldn’t be possible to teach every single one, really. Even so, I believe that both evolution and (the Catholic or Christian concept of) creationism, though limited, should be taught in schools. I think that is the best option, so at least, less people would be offended. Even now, people in Ohio are having a court battle on whether creationism should or should not be taught in schools. Currently, evolution is being taught, but creationism is not, and they are trying to change this.
As humans, we are the first species able to record written history, so we have gotten a big opportunity to make history. Human life has changed throughout the years, as technology has developed and culture diversified. It has blossomed into a complex, differentiated way of life. Ideas and views have changed, and modernization has taken over. We, as a species, have come from a more simple way of life into a more sophisticated way of life.
However, even prior to written history, people now are trying crack the mystery of how we humans even came to be. By excavating fossils and artifacts, and studying them scientifically, we have been able to find out many, many things about our past. As mentioned in our textbook and in the video we previously watched (The Evolution of Humans), we have been able to uncover some things such as the prehistoric fossils of humans over different times, which show the development of our physical structure, and our intelligence. These things have lead us to the theory of evolution, in which humans originated from our fellow primates. In addition, we have also discovered more about ancient humans’ way of life, including the development of civilizations and tools and technology. Ancient civilization has come a long way, back from one of the earliest civilizations, such as Sumer--where people began having institutions, specialized workers, and trade--to today. After all, this is what’s made us who we are now.
The debate about Evolution and Creationism I think that it is just plain out dumb to debate about. I think that In Classrooms students should be taught both, Evolution and Creationism. I say this so kids and teachers can know the story on both sides and maybe that will change their opinion about this topic. Now everyone has there own beliefs so I think that the school board of Ohio should respect that and teach both Creationism and Evolution.
Humans got the opportunity to make history by just being here and finding new discoveries, artifacts, fossils etc... Humans can make history everyday and back when it first began Humans did different things such as making cave paintings which we can now still maybe discover some today.
My opinion on Creationism and Evolution is that I am Catholic and I respect my religion so I do believe that god created the world but then also with such good evidence and facts Evolution is so hard not to believe. So im going to tell a quick story.
One sunday after church I was speaking to the Priest and I kindly asked him "Father with all the respect for the you and the church I don't know if I truly believe that God created the world. There is just is so much scientific evidence that shows that evolution occurred and such so Im just really confused on what to believe" Then he thought for a second and said "Evolution did occur and so did all these scientific things that to deal with creating us as humans and the world. But God is the one who made these things happen and helped these things occur".
The debate about evolution is what certain people believe in versus what other people believe in. Since a countless number of people are taught or believe in a countless number of religions and theories I believe that there will always be a debate about evolution and creationism. One example of this is when creationism was being taught at a school in Ohio. Since no belief can be proven there was a conflict. As this quote shows, many people think that subjects that are based on beliefs should be left at home, "when it comes to empirical things, I really don’t believe that has a place in the classroom". I agree with this person because I also think it's wrong to teach exclusively one belief. I do however think it's appropriate for students to learn about a widespread of others beliefs, as long as they not being only taught one.
In my opinion humans are given the opportunity to make history by being able to discover, create, and achieve. I also believe that a human can be defined by achieve in their lifetime, and someone can't achieve without discovering and creating. Whether that be Albert Einstein creating different scientific theories and laws or John Dalton discovering atoms the greatest people are constantly be defined by their achievements.

The debate about evolution has been an ongoing arguement for many years. The debate is Creationism vs evolution. Creationism is the belief that God created earths and humans. Evolution is the belief that humans evolved from apes. Creationism is mainly believed by religious people. Which is the reason why Ohio schools refuse to allow creationism to be taught. They feel is though that not everyone believes in God so if they began to teach it many students may be offended. The difference between Creationism and Evolution is Evolution is more science based and more factual.
While Creationism is more religious based.
I believe that humans got the opportunity to make history because we're the dominate species. We know how to use our brains and how to function better than another species. History is what makes us who we are today. Without humans there would be no one to record the history that is being made. Humans are the backbone of the world. We control the animals, technology and basically everything else. These are my thoughts on why humans got the opportunity to make history
The debate about evolution is broken down to two sides. Evolution and creationism. As Bill Nye states in the debate about evolution the flood 4 thousand years ago you would think the animals would have swam up but they didn't. So then Ken Ham says if their were a flood 4 thousand years ago then how are most of these trees still here alive? I think the debate about evolution is very interesting with all of the facts and opinions. The debate about evolution is a very interesting topic. The reason i say that is because it can go either way because evolution is for people who don't belive in god, and creationism is more for people who don't belive in god.
A controversial debate is Creationism and Evolution, two categories of the explantation of how life began and grew. Creationism, is based off of what is in the bible but how we don't really know what happened that long ago; we only know what the holy book tells us. Creationist believe that God created the Earth and that humans were made exactly the way the are today. I totally agree with this but many other people have many different opinions. Evolution is based off of scientific facts, predictions, and estimations of what happen. Evolutionists believe that life was created from one single cell and the humans evolved from ape to man. But how do we know that these predictions are correct? If the tools they used are man-made, couldn't they were inaccurate since no one really knows for sure? Do you see how the two differ? This is what caused the debate. Bill Nye(Evolutionist) and Ken Ham(Creationist) debated against each other on which theory is more realistic and/or practical to the explanation of historical events. Ham says according to the Bible, the Earth is 6,000 years old; but Nye questions him by showing over 6,000 year old trees. He asks "...how could these trees be there, if there was an enormous flood just 4,000 years ago?" This is why this is such a debatable theory. I see two different points of view and beliefs. No one 100% knows when the start of life began.
Humans got the opportunity to make history by being the first and only creatures to be able to create and invent. Do animals have creativity? Do they walk-upright? These characteristics are what make us human and set us apart from any other species. Humans created language, advanced civilizations, and established forms of government. We invented tools, strategies, and even a way to make fire to help us survive. We evolved so much and I believe it. We've evolved mentally. The human brain is unlike no other. As time goes on, we will be open to create and grow even more.
In my opinion, really there is no 'real' debate about evolution. Many people argue whether we came from apes (evolution) or God (creationism). It's all down to what people believe in. Both sides in the argument have ideas and facts that support them but we are not advanced enough as humans to tell where exactly we came from.
Bill Nye, a famous science educator who is an evolutionist, believes that we evolved from apes over millions of year. He goes on to explain in his debate against Ken Ham, that the story of Noah's Arc is highly improbable and scientifically impossible. Creationists like Ken Ham, believe that the world is only about 7,000 years old and that the world and everything on it were created in only 6 days.
In Ohio, some people are fighting for creationism to be taught in schools, which would not be completely fair to people who had other beliefs (Christianity would most likely be taught). There are manny reasons why we shouldn't and should teach creationism in schools but the fact that there are so many other types of religions other than Christianity in our schools, you probably would have a hard time convincing someone who has Muslim beliefs, that Christianity was the way that the world was created.
Which ever way we were created, we know that we've been here pretty close to the beginning, leaving a large amount of time for us to do things to make history. Also, we are the worlds most dominant species. We have control over almost everything that goes on in this world so we have a very large impact on events happening in history.
What’s the debate about evolution? Many believe in creationism others (like me) believe in evolution. Creationism relates to how God created the earth in 7 days... from the video with Ken Ham and Bill Nye, Bill Nye said “Noah’s ark... reasonable? , if there was a ginormous flood 4,000 years ago how could trees still be standing from 6,000 years ago? “ Ken Ham’s debate was that “There is a book out there that tells us where man came from (bible), it’s the only thing that makes sense. “ No one knows for sure how we got here... but we can research. Although the debate will never end humans will make history by new discoveries with researching about evolution
How did the earth come to be? How did we come to be? These questions are among the most debated in the world. The topic is a fool-proof conversation starter as well as, unfortunately, a trigger for unfriendly arguments. Why are there so many opposing sides to our origination? All cultures have different beliefs, different practices, and therefore different religions. They all posses their own view point of our origin. Evolutionists believe that the universe began when there was a spontaneous explosion out of nowhere. They commonly theorize that necessities for life were brought to earth by asteroids, which eventually created microscopic organisms that slowly evolved into animals, which ultimately became us human beings. Creationists believe that it makes for sense for the world to have began with a supernatural creator rather than with an explosion that came from nothing. They believe that God created the heavens and the earth and made Man in His image. The differing views of each side can cause conflicts between beliefs; some believe it is unfair or offensive to teach one side in classrooms without learning just as much about the other points of view.
Humans are the only living creatures who have made history, simply because they are the only ones intelligent enough to comprehend the concept and importance of time as well as the importance of recording it. Humans value their accomplishments and often learn from past mistakes, so remembering what cannot be remembered is very useful. Without history, people probably wouldn't have specific rules or a set rights and wrongs since there would be no way for consistency without records.
There is a debate about evolution going around. Some people say that what you believe in as a religion creates your opinion on the debate of evolution. In my personal opinion I believe that God created man in his own image. When God came down from heaven we resemble his earthly image. Others might think that just over time the world evolved into what it is now. It is such a controversial subject and it all comes down to what you believe it. Whether you believe in the science where earth was created with a theory or if you believe God created the world, its still going to be a debate because no one knows for sure.
Us humans got the opportunity to make history by leaving behind fossils and artifacts to tell people about our selves.
Everywhere around the world evolution and creationism is debated. Some people believed that god created the earth and all life that is found on it while others believed that the earth was made by itself and started to devolved life on it own with just cells then comes early man and so on. To me everyone opinions is right in their on ways it comes down to want they want to believe wither it's god or to us evolving from apes who then were early man. As for me i believed in evolution such as Bill Nye, such as how a bunch of zoo keepers got a two of every animals on a boat and they some how survived over the years on a boat, where did they get all the food from if everything is under water and how they keep the animals from killing each other for food such as meat? That just my opinion about this debate. How we human got the opportunity to make history is when we start to make fire then comes our tools such as stone spares, stone ax, shelters, food storage, and the wheel . As we start to invent new technology we'll start to make history though out the years.
I believe that the debate about evolution is just a debate. I think that it all comes down to what you ,as a person, believes. If you believe in evolution, then that is what you're going to teach or want to learn. And if you believe in creationism, then that is what you're going to teach or want to learn. and nobody can tell you that your opinion is wrong because it is your opinion.
I believe that humans get the chance to make history everyday. humans make history every minute and every second. We make history all the time, even when we aren't trying to.
I believe we humans was very interested what happened in the past & wanted to learn more about where we came from. Learn more about different culter are needs & what we had to do to survive.

In my opinion, based off of the videos, lessons, etc. in class, the debate about evolution is mostly a comparison between creationism and evolution. Scientists have found evidence that supports both creationism and evolution, but are unsure which the best theory is or what is or isn’t true. To me, Creationism is more of a religion based hypothesis. So many people believe that it is true because they are taught that at a young age and through the bible. Others believe it wrong to teach, because it is so based off of the Christian religion, and that there are so many other religions that is just unfair. Evolution is thought to be the growth and development of the human race over time, including the skeleton and external looks. I was brought up to believe creationism, but as i look at the proof now believe that the human race resulted out of evolution, and afterwards the creationism story of “Adam and Eve” occurred.
We as humans have the opportunity to make history by evolving into being able to think and use our brains, because that is how we created all of what we have now. Just as our bodies evolved, our thoughts and knowledge did as well. For example we began to question the world around us and come up with this complex idea of how we got to where we are.
