News Flash: Assignments posted on the WEB!

It took some work, but I heeded your feedback and added an assignments section the World and African American History websites.

From now on, students can check for assignments on the website instead of having to either physically be in class or directly contact me. Be sure to check it frequently especially if you have an extended absence.

My hope is that this will help further streamline communication in class.

A Note on Judaism

I got an important note that will add nicely to our exploration of World religions. When we had students teach Judaism we learned that Jews referred to "God" as Yahweh. After a conversation with Ms. Levine, I must pass on new learnings about this idea of how God is spoken of (or not spoken of) in the Jewish religion. In Jewish prayer books, the word "God" is written "G/d."

"Yahweh" is not a real word. Jews write the word Yahweh as "YHVH." It is taboo in the Jewish religion to speak God's name. Rather than say the name "Yahweh" in sin, the words "Adonai" and Hashem (a more conservative term) are used in place of the term.

Food for thought and cultural enlightenment.

Next Week will be a challenge!

To my World History students. I just want to remind you of what is to come next week. Monday you present your early civilization projects, Wednesday we have a test on chapter 1, and Friday your HerStory projects are due. It sounds like a lot of work (and it is!), but you can do it--you're Girls' High girls :)

Keep pushing and please don't hesitate to talk to me when you need support. Enjoy what's left of your weekend and get ready for Monday!
